Compare the measurements, shelf layout, hanging space, locker, mirror, material and seller area. Ask for photos of the inside, back, base and keys when these details are missing.

Count the shelves, drawers and hanging sections you need before choosing a cupboard. Check whether a locker, mirror or removable shelf is useful and whether the door style suits the space in front of it.

Measure the wall, floor and ceiling as well as skirting, switches and windows nearby. Leave room for doors and drawers to open fully without blocking a bed, passage or another piece of furniture.

For wooden furniture, look for loose joints, swelling, moisture, damaged laminate, weak shelves and signs of termites. Open every door and drawer and test the hinges, handles and base.

For steel cupboards, check for rust, dents, sharp edges and weak welding. Test each key, lock and locker, and ask whether a missing or damaged part can be repaired before moving the cupboard.

Measure the cupboard and the doors, passages, stairs and lift at both addresses. Ask whether it can be taken apart safely and whether shelves, doors or mirrors should be removed for transport.

Confirm the pickup floor, parking, loading help and vehicle size before travelling. Inspect the cupboard and included keys in person, agree on the final amount and avoid paying in advance before checking the item and seller.

Photograph the front, inside, shelves, drawers, back, base, locks and any damage. Add the width, height and depth, material, age, condition, asking price and pickup area.

Mention every key, locker, mirror or removable shelf included in the sale. Explain whether the cupboard can be taken apart and whether the buyer must arrange loading and transport.
